POLICIES
Rules to ride by
In the process of registration with OISA, riders will be required to agree with stipulations listed below and recognize that breaking any of these Codes of Conduct may result in expulsion from the team. Fees paid to the team will not be refunded if a student is ineligible or expelled.
HELMET / GEAR
You must have your helmet with you to board the bus and to ride with the team. No exceptions. No helmet = no ride. You are also responsible for keeping track of all your own gear.
JERSEY
You must have your racing jersey on competition days or you will not be allowed to compete. Jerseys will be handed out at or before the first competition. DO NOT lose your jersey. This jersey is yours for all your years on the team. If you lose it, you might not be able to compete and you will be charged $25 for a replacement jersey.
PARTICIPATION
Participation in all practices and events is mandatory. Please make the snowboard schedule a priority if you are joining the team. The quantity of slots our team gets for State Competition is partially based on the quantity that ride in each event on competition days. Everyone has a chance to go to State and everyone gets better at snowboarding when they ride consistently!
ELIGIBILITY
Academic eligibility is a requirement for participation and will be confirmed by each school mid December and early February per OISA and PPS requirements.
COMMUNICATION / TRANSPO
If you cannot attend a practice or competition OR if you plan to participate but have your own ride, text or call Coach Ian @ 541-223-3580 before the bus is scheduled to depart. You’ll be expected to sign in when boarding the bus and confirm transpo home for practice and comps. Return to the lodge/bus by the time coaches ask. Text/call Ian if you will be late boarding the bus or late to a comp. The bus leaves on time for practices and comps. Running late means you will still make it in time to board the bus.
RIDE RESPONSIBLY
Be conservative in early season riding and warm up before you go big. Don’t get injured before the season starts!
Know the code:
1. Always stay in control, and be able to stop or avoid other people or objects.
2. People ahead of you have the right of way. It is your responsibility to avoid them.
3. You must not stop where you obstruct a trail, or are not visible from above.
4. Whenever starting downhill or merging into a trail, look uphill and yield to others. (MHM tip: when traversing, yield to those on groomed trails and those moving in the fall line when off groom.)
5. Always use devices to help prevent runaway equipment.
6. Observe all posted signs and warnings. Keep off closed trails and out of closed areas.
7. Prior to using any lift, you must have the knowledge and ability to load, ride and unload safely.
POLICIES
Drug or alcohol use is positively NOT ALLOWED. If you are caught in possession of, or under the influence of drugs or alcohol you will be removed from the roster and season fees and payments will not be refunded. This is OISA, PPS and team policy that applies 24/7 while you’re a team member from registration through state. Per OISA policy, riders will be disqualified for swearing while on a run in competition. Your score for that run will be DQ.
REPRESENT
You are representing your school, your team, your coaches and your families. Be respectful, show good sportsmanship, support your teammates, and be your best self at all times. When you’re riding, when you’re in the lift line, in the lodge, at comps, and when you’re on the bus. Be responsible, be kind, be awesome.
